Special Olympics Montgomery County

Special Olympics Montgomery County

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and more with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania, Montgomery County conducts training and competition in 19 sports at 44 venues for 1370 athletes. All training and competition opportunities are provided free of charge with funding provided solely within the county. This enables athletes and their families to experience the benefits of Special Olympics that extend well beyond the playing field.

The Family Strong 4 ALS Foundation

The Family Strong 4 ALS Foundation

Family Strong 4 ALS provides hope through research and advocacy for those diagnosed with ALS. Currently, there is no cure or therapy to slow the progression of this debilitating disease. More than 450,000 patients live with ALS at any given time around the world, and they will suffer while their family stands by watching this horrific disease slowly and painfully take their loved one. Our belief is that no disease is incurable - we just haven’t figured this one out yet. Family Strong 4 ALS was specifically founded in honor of V. Michael Fulginiti, who passed away in October of 2016, following a courageous battle with ALS. An active community member and business owner in Aston, Pennsylvania, Michael made a difference by working hard and giving his best each day.

Family Strong Foundation will continue to fight for these patients and their families until “we figure it out” and we hope you will fight with us. Through awareness, research and collaboration, ALS can have a treatment and then, one day, a cure.

Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia

Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia

Everyone deserves safety and opportunity. The Bicycle Coalition is transforming the region so that people from all backgrounds have access to safe, healthy and affordable ways of getting around the places where they live, work, learn, and play. Safer streets, new trails, youth and adult education, and community-building initiatives benefit us all — cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists alike.

The Bicycle Coalition serves the nine county region, 25% of whom bike regularly. Over one million cyclists have been impacted by our advocacy. Our victories benefit everyone, not just cyclists. Your favorite places to ride a bike, run, and walk, including the Schuylkill River, Cooper River, and Chester Valley trails, exist in part because of the advocacy of the Bicycle Coalition and its members.
